Bentley reveals Torcal as first electric model

Bentley’s first EV takes the stage

Bentley has unveiled the Torcal as its first fully electric model and the fourth model line in its history, with the global reveal taking place in London on 23 September 2026. Bentley’s Beyond100+ statement says the brand’s first fully electric car to be revealed in 2026 is intended to create an entirely new segment, described as the world’s first true Luxury Urban SUV, while Reuters posted that Bentley launched its first-ever fully electric vehicle leaning heavily on the company’s century-old design heritage. ¹³⁵

Platform, size and exterior theme

GoAuto reported that the Torcal is a five-metre SUV built on shared underpinnings with the Porsche Cayenne Electric, while Bentley says the car was designed, engineered and built at Crewe with systems such as brake, accelerator and steering feel independently calibrated for the brand. CarExpert had earlier reported the Torcal name and said the vehicle was expected to be the production version of the EXP 15 concept, adding that it was not yet confirmed for Australia at that time and was expected to arrive in showrooms in 2027. ¹⁴

GoAuto said the Torcal measures 4983mm long, 2016mm wide and 1674mm tall, making it 161mm shorter than the Bentayga, and noted it is the first production Bentley to wear the brand’s redesigned, more rounded emblem. The same report said the design language includes an illuminated diamond-pattern grille, reworked lighting and a rear “prestigious shield” theme that traces back to the EXP 15 concept. ¹

Powertrain, range and cabin hardware

According to GoAuto, the Torcal launches in two forms: a core model with 604kW and 1194Nm, claimed to reach 100km/h in 3.4 seconds and 250km/h, and a Torcal S First Edition with 653kW and 1350Nm with Launch Control engaged, claimed at 2.9 seconds to 100km/h and 260km/h. GoAuto also said both versions use twin permanent-magnet synchronous motors, an 800V system, and a 113kWh net battery made up of 192 lithium-ion pouch cells, covered by a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty. ¹

Bentley quoted up to 600km of WLTP range and said a 10 to 80 per cent charge should take around 16 minutes at 400kW, adding about 160km in seven minutes. GoAuto further reported fully active suspension, standard electronic all-wheel steering with up to five degrees of rear-axle angle, and braking with 420mm front and 370mm rear iron discs, with optional carbon-silicon-carbide ceramics up to 440mm front and 410mm rear. ¹

Inside, GoAuto said the Torcal gets curved OLED displays, facial recognition for driver preferences, a phone-based digital key, an augmented-reality head-up display and a 620W 16-speaker audio system, with an optional 1780W 28-speaker Naim setup. It also reported 100 per cent Merino wool automotive fabric, new veneer and aluminium finishes, and a three-seat rear bench with power-fold functionality for the first time in a Bentley. ¹

Ordering, production and Australian pricing

GoAuto said customers can begin specifying a Torcal from 23 September 2026, with production starting in the second quarter of 2027 at a restored Crewe facility dating back to 1938. The same report said firm Australian delivery timing has not been locked in, though first local arrivals are understood to be earmarked before the end of 2027. ¹

On price, The Age reported that the Torcal starts at £173,000, or $325,000, while GoAuto said UK pricing starts from around £165,000, roughly $A310,000 at current exchange rates, and estimated a locally landed Australian figure closer to $370,000 after taxes and margins. Those figures are on different bases: one is a starting price reported in the article sourced to Bloomberg, while the other is GoAuto’s list-price and local landing estimate. ⁶¹

The Age also reported that Bentley has invested £350 million in its Crewe plant to build the Torcal. In the same report, Frank-Steffen Walliser described the car as a “more affordable Bentley” and said the model is drawing interest from existing customers as well as new buyers, with Bentley presenting it as a zero-emissions alternative that still carries the brand’s familiar design cues. ⁶

Where Torcal fits in Bentley’s strategy

Bentley’s Beyond100+ statement says the company has extended its strategy, will continue PHEV models beyond 2030 to 2035, and plans to launch a new PHEV or BEV model every year over the next decade. The Age reported Bentley had previously delayed its first EV and abandoned a target of becoming fully electric by 2030, while Carexpert’s Bentley page lists the Bentayga, Continental GT and Flying Spur as the brand’s current model families alongside the Torcal. ³⁶²
