Honda Super-ONE supply stretches to 12 months in Australia

Honda’s city EV is moving from announcement to delivery

Honda Australia said in October 2025 that the Honda Super-ONE small-size electric vehicle would go on sale in Australia in the second half of 2026 after local testing, and described it as a city EV developed from the Honda Super EV concept first unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Honda said the launch would follow completion of a local testing program, while CarExpert’s 2026-and-beyond model roundup had already placed the Super-ONE in the second half of 2026 for Australia. ⁵⁷

Honda also said the Super-ONE would launch with the benefit of local and international testing, and highlighted Boost Mode as a signature feature: when the driver steps on the accelerator, power output surges instantly and engine sound fills the cabin in sync with simulated gear shifts. That launch explanation is Honda’s own description of the model’s driving character, not an independent test result. ⁵

Supply is already stretched

PerthNow reported on 24 September 2026 that Honda Australia’s automotive general manager, Nick Parkington, said supply to Australia was being constrained by strong demand in Japan. In that report, he said a two-tone Super-ONE was down to the back half of next year, while a monotone car was still expected in the first half of next year. ²

PerthNow said the local team had around 7,000 expressions of interest before launch and that the first batch, totalling around 130 vehicles, sold out within hours when order books opened in early August. ANTARA reported on 20 August 2026 that about 125 vehicles had been allocated to Australia for the final months of 2026 and that orders were then being taken for 2027 deliveries. A Vietnamese report the same month likewise said around 125 Australian units were allocated for late 2026 and sold quickly, with buyers missing the first batch moving to 2027. ²⁶⁸

PerthNow also reported Honda Australia expected to deliver around 500 Super-ONEs in the first 12 months on sale. That figure sits alongside the early allocation numbers and indicates the model will remain a low-volume addition in its first year. ²

Specifications and equipment vary by source and market

CarExpert’s Australian model page says the Super-ONE is available locally as a single base variant, priced from $36,900 driveaway, with a 5-year warranty. It lists a 70kW and 162Nm electric motor, rear-wheel drive, a single-speed automatic transmission, a 35.5kWh battery, 50kW DC fast charging and dimensions of 3,894mm long, 1,752mm wide and 1,512mm high. ³

ANTARA’s report carried a different specification set for the same model, saying the Super-ONE used a front motor rated at 47kW that could rise to 70kW in Boost, with a 29.6kWh battery, 206km of WLTP combined range, 320km city range and a 30-minute 10 to 80 per cent fast-charge claim at up to 50kW. Those details were presented in that report as quoted specifications, and they should not be mixed with CarExpert’s Australian listing as though they were the same confirmed local figures. ⁶

PerthNow did not publish a full specification table, but it did report that Honda’s local team said the first Australian allocation was affected by colour choice, with two-tone examples pushed later than monotone cars. That makes the colour and grade split part of the availability story as well as the ordering story. ²

Pricing basis and what Honda says is included

Honda Australia’s Super-ONE EOI page says any estimated drive-away price is based on the state or territory entered by postcode and can include metallic or pearlescent paint where applicable, 12 months registration, 12 months compulsory third party insurance, a recommended Honda Centre delivery charge, GST, stamp duty and administration charges. It also says concessions, accessories and some cross-border delivery charges may be excluded, and that pricing should be confirmed with a Honda Centre because Honda Australia may change vehicle pricing at any time. CarExpert’s $36,900 figure is a driveaway listing, so it should be read on that basis rather than as a manufacturer list price. ¹⁴³

The same Honda EOI page says the range shown is based on NEDC testing and that actual driving range can vary with conditions, while charging times are indicative only and may vary with charger type, power supply, battery temperature and vehicle condition. Those qualifications apply to the figures displayed on Honda’s site and should not be treated as fixed real-world results. ¹

Context for Honda’s Australian EV push

Honda’s 2025 announcement framed the Super-ONE as part of its broader electrification plan for Australia, saying it remained a key part of the brand’s strategy even though hybrids still dominate local sales. PerthNow added that Honda executives said more than 90 per cent of local sales are now hybrid models, placing the Super-ONE as the brand’s first battery-electric model for Australia rather than a volume replacement for its hybrid range. ⁵²
