Alpine A310 Vision concept reinterprets the 1970s coupe at the Paris Motor Show

Alpine has revealed the A310 Vision, a one-off design study built on its new APP platform to mark 55 years of the four-cylinder A310 and 50 years of the V6 — officially not a production preview, though reports suggest a new A310 remains on the brand's product plan.

Alpine unveils the A310 Vision in Paris

Alpine has revealed the A310 Vision, a one-off concept that reinterprets the iconic 1970s A310 coupe through what the brand calls a contemporary, retro-futuristic vision. Unveiled at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the concept was created by Alpine's Design teams and is timed to celebrate two anniversaries: 55 years of the four-cylinder A310 and 50 years of the A310 V6. CarExpert reports the show car was unveiled this week in Paris, where it appears alongside a sculpture previewing the next A110's styling. 21

Alpine is explicit about the concept's status. In its press release, the brand describes A310 Vision as "an independent design concept, conceived as a creative exploration of Alpine's heritage rather than the announcement of a future production model". The company's own FAQ reiterates that it is not intended as a preview of a future production vehicle. IMBOLDN similarly notes that because it is a design study rather than a production announcement, pricing, orders and market availability do not apply. 23

Despite that official framing, published speculation points the other way. According to CarExpert, Autocar understands the concept carries the model code PS1 (Projet Spécial 1), which could indicate it forms the basis for a limited-run model. Carscoops, for its part, argues that stripping away the concept body likely gives an idea of what a long-awaited next-generation A310 production model could look like, though it acknowledges it is unclear how much of the Vision's design might influence that car. 14

Proportions and styling: low, wide and sculptural

Alpine's press release details the concept's dimensions: 4.55 metres long, 1.18 metres high, 2.03 metres wide at its broadest point at the rear, and riding a 2.45-metre wheelbase. The brand stresses that its maximum width is reached at the rear haunches rather than across the mirrors, and characterises the proportions as expressing a low, wide and sculptural sense of sportiness. IMBOLDN gives the same figures in imperial terms, describing a car just 46.5 inches high. 253

Rather than reproduce the original, Alpine says the designers worked from a real A310 placed at the heart of the studio as a living reference, capturing its simple, expressive seventies essence and blending the purity of the early four-cylinder versions with the more muscular character of the widened-wing V6 cars. CarExpert observes that the Vision mixes cues from the original A310 with elements of the later V6 and GT models, including pumped-up wheel arches, a rear wing and sharper, more heavily creased bodywork. 21

The exterior features aluminium bodywork over a black lower section with an organic treatment inspired by Formula 1, topped by a semi-transparent cabin bubble and mounted on triangular "A"-shaped wheels nodding to the full-metal wheels of the early versions, according to Alpine's release. Motor.es adds that the concept takes on a shooting-brake-like rear treatment and highlights the pop-down headlights that unfold on start-up, the bonnet's S-duct, the central "Y zero" blade running toward the rear, a two-part split rear wing with ice- and mountain-inspired translucent sections, and blade-shaped tail lights with an aerodynamic downforce function. 25

The interior is deliberately suggestive rather than production-ready. Alpine says the semi-transparent canopy offers a glimpse of organically shaped seats, bold "colour block" elements and physical controls inspired by the world of hi-fi. Autoblog.it notes the approach favours clean surfaces and colour contrast, avoiding a dash reduced to a run of screens. 27

One clear departure from the original concerns seating. CarExpert notes that although the original A310 offered four seats, the Vision concept has just two. 1

APP platform: the technical hook

Alpine positions the A310 Vision above all as a demonstration of the creative freedom enabled by its new Alpine Performance Platform (APP), the architecture set to underpin the third-generation, all-electric A110. According to the brand's release, APP is designed to push the limits of sports cars while retaining practical modularity, allowing designers to explore new proportions, volumes and aerodynamic solutions. 275

CarExpert explains the packaging logic behind APP: it is an EV-first architecture with two battery packs — a small one under the bonnet and a main unit behind the cabin — a layout that adds complexity but, Alpine says, allows a lower seating position and more spacious cabin. The upcoming all-electric A110 is based on the same platform. 1

APP is not exclusively electric, however. CarExpert reports that Alpine CEO Philippe Krief told Autocar earlier this year that with "some small modifications on the platform we can accommodate an engine, gearbox, fuel tank and all you need", with a petrol drivetrain essentially replacing the main battery unit. It remains unknown what, if any, drivetrain the Vision concept itself uses: as CarExpert and Autoblog.it both note, Alpine has released no power, battery or performance figures for the show car. 17

A summary carried by Headtopics of a broader design interview attributes flexibility claims to Alpine design director Antony Villain, who is quoted saying "we have the flexibility to do different widths, wheelbases, engine and battery positions" on APP, and framing the platform as an enabler for Alpine's bespoke, low-volume ambitions. This material is a summarised secondary account and should be read in that light. 6

What the official 'not for production' line does and doesn't rule out

Alpine officially rules the concept in as a design study only. But multiple outlets point to a production A310 existing elsewhere on the brand's plan. Carscoops recalls that in mid-2023 Alpine announced an ambitious product plan to 2030, revealing a new four-seat A310 would launch on the same architecture as the A110, and says it reported last December that the car would reach the market as a fastback GT with a 2+2 layout, later also sold as a convertible. Motor.es similarly states that the brand's future plans include a four-seat sports sedan bearing this name, while maintaining that the Vision itself is officially not a model preview. 245

Carscoops adds that spy shots emerged in early 2025 reportedly showing a Porsche 911 being used as a test mule for a two-door sports car with proportions similar to the concept — a claim that publication itself frames as reported, not confirmed by Alpine. 4

Alpine has provided no technical information about the A310 Vision's drivetrain, battery or performance, and has not announced any production intent. What is confirmed by the manufacturer is the concept's role: a heritage exercise, shown in Paris, illustrating what the brand's sports cars could explore on APP going forward. 512

The car being celebrated: the original A310

The concept marks a significant anniversary for a car Alpine itself describes as one of its most distinctive icons. Launched in 1971 to extend the story opened by the Berlinette, the A310 stood out through a spectacular, immediately recognisable silhouette, according to Alpine's press release. CarExpert characterises it as a larger and more relaxed sibling for the A110, which was sportier and forged a successful rally-racing career. Production ran until 1984. 21

As CarExpert recounts, the original A310's performance did not initially match its supercar looks: it launched with a 91kW 1.6-litre carburetted four-cylinder, and its heavier body-chassis construction made it leisurely. Only in 1976 did the A310 gain a 110kW 2.7-litre V6 — the version whose 50th anniversary the Vision concept also commemorates. 1
