EOFY 2026 brings unusually deep discounts on EVs, PHEVs and slow-selling utes in Australia

The 2026 end-of-financial-year sales campaign has started earlier than usual and features more brands, more models and larger savings than ever seen before, according to CarExpert. Carseekers similarly describes it as the strongest EOFY for plug-in hybrid and electric pricing it has observed in Australia. Both publications frame the depth of discounting against a backdrop of record fuel prices and high inflation in the first half of 2026, with a super-competitive market driving bigger incentives. ¹²

The pattern both outlets identify is consistent: electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids are being discounted hardest because battery-powered inventory has built up faster than sales, while diesel utes, conventional hybrids and Toyota's mainstream SUVs are barely moving on price because demand still outstrips supply. CarExpert notes June is traditionally the strongest sales month as brands make a final push before the 30 June deadline. ¹²

Kia, Hyundai and MG offers

Carseekers reports Kia's most aggressive cut is on the Tasman ute, with the range-topping X-Pro now $64,990 drive-away — more than $10,000 off the before-on-road-costs price — running to 30 June 2026. Carseekers attributes the depth of the cut to Tasman demand under-delivering against Kia's expectations, noting the brand has publicly admitted styling and engine changes are coming for the next model year. Kia's EV3 lands at $46,990 drive-away and the EV5 at $49,990 drive-away, down from $56,770 before on-road costs, also until 30 June 2026. ¹

Hyundai's offers are sharper but run to a tighter 31 May 2026 deadline, per Carseekers. The Kona Electric starts at $45,990 drive-away, the newly launched Elexio SUV is from $57,990 drive-away (down from $58,990 before on-road costs) and the Ioniq 5 starts at $71,990 drive-away, which Carseekers notes undercuts the equivalent Kia EV6 in most configurations. CarExpert separately reports Hyundai ran 'Pre-EOFY' promotions ahead of the traditional campaign. ¹²

MG is running discounts across its range until 30 June 2026, with the largest a $6,000 cashback on plug-in hybrid variants of the mid-size HS SUV, per Carseekers. Petrol and conventional hybrid HS examples, along with the QS large SUV and U9 ute, carry a $3,000 cashback, and MG is bundling five years of free servicing into those $3,000 offers. The ZS small SUV and MG3 hatch receive only minor conditional discounts. ¹

BYD and Chery cashback campaigns

CarExpert details BYD's $3,000 cashback on the electric Sealion 5, the plug-in hybrid Sealion 6 and seven-seat Sealion 8 PHEV, ordered by 29 June and delivered by 30 June 2026, with the same cashback on the Shark 6 Premium PHEV dual-cab ute. The cashback pricing table shows the Sealion 5 Essential at $30,990 (down from $33,990 before on-road costs), Sealion 6 Essential at $39,990, Sealion 8 Dynamic at $53,990 and Shark 6 Premium at $54,990 (down from $57,990). Buyers of those models can also access a 1.88 per cent finance comparison rate, and other models including the Atto 1 hatch and Sealion 7 receive a five per cent novated lease discount until 30 June. ²

Carseekers reports Chery's Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid versions are $5,000 off, from $34,990 drive-away, while the Tiggo 4 Hybrid and Tiggo 8 PHEV Super Hybrid pick up a $2,000 factory bonus, both until 30 June 2026. CarExpert's corresponding table shows the Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid Urban at $34,990 drive-away (regular $39,990), Tiggo 4 Hybrid Urban at $27,990 (regular $29,990) and Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid Urban at $43,990 (regular $45,990), alongside a $1,000 fuel card on the Tiggo 4 petrol and C5 grades. ¹²

Ford, Toyota and premium-brand incentives

Ford has substantially reduced the Ranger plug-in hybrid. Carseekers reports it is now from $62,000 drive-away, down from $71,990 before on-road costs, until 30 June 2026, closing what it describes as a roughly $10,000 gap to the BYD Shark 6. CarExpert reports the starting price of the PHEV slashed by more than $10,000 to $62,990 drive-away nationally for the entry-level MY26 Ranger Hybrid XLT, while its table lists the MY25.75 Ranger Hybrid XLT at $62,000 drive-away. The two figures reflect different model-year variants, and both outlets' published amounts are stated here as reported. ¹²

CarExpert also details Ford's wider EOFY structure: a $5,000 fuel-card discount on certain outgoing MY26 Ranger and Everest variants and a $4,000 fuel card on the incoming MY26.50 models, both until 30 June, with MY24 F-150 vehicles on drive-away pricing such as the XLT SWB at $115,000 drive-away against a $114,950 before-on-road-costs list price. A 6.99 per cent comparison finance rate applies to the Mustang for buyers applying by 30 June and settling by 2 July 2026. Carseekers adds that some diesel Ranger variants are also being offered with sharp drive-away deals. ¹²

Toyota's full-size Tundra hybrid ute has had a cut of more than $10,000 on 2025 models, combining removed on-road costs and a cashback bonus to start at $145,990 drive-away until 30 June 2026, which Carseekers characterises as a stock-clear deal on a slow seller rather than a broad softening of Toyota pricing. Among premium brands, CarExpert reports Audi will pay Luxury Car Tax on selected MY25 stock — including Q5, Q4 e-tron, Q6 e-tron Sport Limited and Q7 SUVs and the outgoing A5 — until 30 June, with model-specific reductions such as $14,330 of LCT on the 2026 Q7 TFSI quattro S line, and BMW will pay the GST-equivalent amount across its non-electric 'X' SUV lineup for private buyers ordering and delivering by 30 June 2026, worth $7,795 on the entry-level X3 20 xDrive in NSW. ¹²

Conditions, deadlines and price bases to check

The offers are time-limited and in some cases stock-dependent. Most campaigns run until 30 June 2026, but Hyundai's electric deals end on 31 May 2026, and CarExpert notes some 2026 campaigns started earlier than usual. Carseekers advises buyers to insist any signed paperwork records the exact drive-away figure, the exact build date and a stop-loss date if delivery cannot occur before the offer expires, and to confirm specific colour and trim stock rather than accepting claims of limited EOFY supply. ¹²

Price bases differ across the campaigns and should not be treated interchangeably. Many offers are quoted as drive-away prices including registration, CTP and dealer delivery, while others — notably the BYD, Audi and BMW figures quoted by CarExpert — are before-on-road-costs list prices with cashback, LCT or GST-equivalent amounts applied separately, and some of CarExpert's comparisons are based on a Sydney 2000 postcode. Carseekers recommends obtaining a total drive-away quote in writing before signing. ¹²
