Exeed EX6 plug-in hybrid SUV pictured in China

EX6 revealed, with a launch scheduled

Chery’s premium Exeed brand released official images of its new EX6 plug-in hybrid SUV on 15 June 2026, according to MarkLines. Internet Info Agency also reported the image release and said the model was scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2026. That was a launch schedule reported in June, not a confirmed date on which sales began. ²³

Dimensions and powertrain

MarkLines cited information published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for EX6 dimensions of 4830mm in length, 1920mm in width and 1680mm in height. Internet Info Agency separately cited ministry filings for a five-seat layout and a plug-in hybrid system using a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It reported a maximum engine output of 115kW; that figure is for the petrol engine, not the combined hybrid system. ²³

Electric-motor specifications had not been disclosed in Internet Info Agency’s June report. Drawing on the related Yaoguang C-DM, the publication expected that front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive EX6 versions might be offered and proposed possible motor outputs for each layout. Those figures were projections based on another model, rather than published EX6 specifications. ³

Equipment visible in the images

Internet Info Agency identified a roof-mounted LiDAR unit in the EX6 images, as well as driver-assistance status lights at the ends of the front light bar, on the mirrors and within the rear lamps. It interpreted the LiDAR as indicating support for urban and highway navigation-assisted driving. The images and that interpretation do not establish the final functions or operating conditions of the driver-assistance system. ³

The publication also described a honeycomb-patterned grille, a full-width daytime running light strip, split headlamps, an opening panoramic sunroof and a full-width rear lamp. It listed 19- and 20-inch wheel options, with tyre sizes of 225/55 R19, 235/55 R19 and 245/50 R20 among those reported. The pictured vehicle had two-tone multi-spoke wheels and red brake calipers; those images do not establish the equipment fitted to every version. ³

Australian brand context and the EX6 name

In a September 2026 account, CarExpert named Chery, Omoda Jaecoo, Lepas, iCaur, Jetour and Freelander as the six Chery Group brands expected in Australia by the end of 2027. Exeed was not in that list, although the article did discuss Exeed as one of the group’s overseas premium marques. CarExpert reported that Lepas was launching in Australia in 2026 with an independent sales network able to use existing Chery Group back-end systems. ⁴

Chery Motor Australia chief operating officer Lucas Harris told CarExpert in November 2025 that the group intended its local brands to appeal to different types of buyers rather than form a simple ladder of price and prestige. He did not rule out further brands if the company’s Chinese headquarters decided to introduce them. Those comments describe the group’s approach, not a decision to sell the newly pictured EX6 in Australia. ¹

There is also a naming distinction to preserve when comparing markets. CarExpert wrote in September that the Omoda 9 is sold in China as the Exeed EX6, while Internet Info Agency described the EX6 pictured in June as an all-new model. The two accounts do not establish whether those references concern the same generation or specification. Specifications for an Omoda 9 should therefore not be treated as specifications for the vehicle shown in June. ⁴³
