Ram seeks more Australian TRX supply as early-2027 deliveries approach

Orders outpace the initial allocation

Ram Trucks Australia is seeking more 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT vehicles from the US after customer orders exceeded its expectations. General manager Jeff Barber told CarExpert and GoAuto that limited factory output this year, alongside strong US demand, would make it difficult to meet Australian demand initially. He said the company was working to secure a larger allocation, but neither publication reported an increased allocation being agreed. ¹⁴

Barber now expects the first Australian arrivals and deliveries in the first quarter of 2027. That is a narrower target than the first-half-of-2027 showroom timing reported by Cars24 when the Australian return was announced in August. It remains an expectation, not a confirmed delivery date. CarExpert reports that Australian order books opened in August 2026; the new TRX SRT is built at Ram’s Sterling Heights plant in Michigan before local right-hand-drive conversion. ¹⁴⁵

Price and performance figures

The returning flagship is priced from $259,950 before on-road costs. CarExpert reported at its August announcement that this was $10,000 above the previous Australian TRX Final Edition’s list price and $100,000 above the then-current Ram 1500 Limited with the high-output Hurricane six-cylinder engine. Those comparisons are between prices excluding on-road costs, not drive-away amounts. ⁷⁴

The MY27 TRX SRT revives the previous model’s supercharged 6.2-litre Hemi V8. Its quoted 579kW and 922Nm outputs apply to the US-market vehicle: GoAuto says Australian specifications have yet to be finalised. Ram claims the US truck can accelerate from 0 to 97km/h in 3.5 seconds. That manufacturer claim should not be read as an independently tested result for the Australian-converted version. ⁷⁴

CarExpert reports that the new TRX retains a five-seat Crew Cab body and uses 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tyres on 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels, Bilstein Blackhawk e2 adaptive dampers and air suspension. Its reported 554kg payload and 3674kg towing capacity were published alongside the model’s overseas specifications; final Australian ratings have not been established in that report. US-market cabin equipment includes a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, 12.3-inch instrument display and 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. ⁷

For Australian buyers, CarExpert reported Bright White as the colour included in the list price. It said five other finishes — Forged Blue, Serrano Green, Molten Red Pearl, Diamond Black Pearl and TRX-exclusive Spitfire Orange — would each add $950. That paint charge is separate from on-road costs. ⁷

Rumble Bee remains under discussion

Ram Trucks Australia is also talking to its US parent about bringing the Ram 1500 Rumble Bee to Australia, but Barber said no local introduction or variant had been confirmed. GoAuto describes it as a road-focused performance family, in contrast with the high-riding, off-road-oriented TRX. The US range spans a 5.7-litre V8, 6.4-litre versions including a chassis-upgraded Track Pack, and a supercharged 6.2-litre SRT sharing the TRX’s engine. ¹⁴

There is no Australian Rumble Bee launch date. Barber told GoAuto that, if approved, it would follow the TRX because of US production timing and the engineering needed for Australia. Ram had already told CarExpert in June, before the TRX was confirmed locally, that right-hand-drive remanufacturing was part of the work required for either model. Its subsequent confirmation of the TRX does not amount to approval for the Rumble Bee. ⁴⁶

Ram’s claimed 3.4-second 0–97km/h time belongs to the US-market Rumble Bee SRT, not every Rumble Bee version or a confirmed Australian vehicle. Barber told CarExpert in September that Ram was still deciding which version or versions might suit this market. ¹⁶

Where the V8 fits in the local range

The TRX SRT’s return follows the end of Australian conversion of the earlier V8-powered Ram 1500 in December 2024. The core local 1500 range moved to the twin-turbocharged Hurricane inline-six, which Ram Trucks Australia says will remain. Barber told GoAuto the company presently saw no need to add a Hemi V8 to other mainstream models; its confirmed V8 offerings instead centre on specialised vehicles. ⁷³⁴

One of those is the larger Ram 2500 Warlock, announced locally with a naturally aspirated 6.4-litre petrol V8 ahead of the TRX’s expected arrival. This is a change from CarExpert’s August TRX announcement, which said the Warlock had not yet been confirmed for the Australian lineup. The Rumble Bee remains the potential third V8 offering, rather than a committed addition. ³⁴⁷

CarExpert and GoAuto report that almost 1000 examples of the previous-generation TRX were sold across Australia and New Zealand between mid-2022 and late 2025. That historical figure covers both countries, not Australia alone. Separately, CarExpert cited Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries figures showing 703 combined Australian Ram 2500 and 3500 sales so far in 2026, up 92.1 per cent; those heavy-duty deliveries are not TRX orders. ⁷⁴²
