What Mazda has announced

Mazda has detailed a series of changes for the 2027 model year CX-60 and CX-80 SUVs, centred on ride comfort, noise reduction and a new parking assistance system. According to the manufacturer's own release, the revisions include modified rear suspension crossmember bushings intended to deliver a smoother and more refined drive, additional sound-absorbing materials around the electric motor housing, under the dashboard and around the transmission tunnel on e-Skyactiv PHEV variants, and the introduction of Active Parking Control (APC). 24

CarExpert reports the updated SUVs are due in European showrooms from December 2026, but that Mazda Australia has declined to confirm whether or when the updates will reach the Australian market. The publication notes the Australian-market CX-60 and CX-80 currently offer only Machine Grey Metallic among grey finishes, with the new colours not yet confirmed locally. 1

Active Parking Control arrives

The headline technology change is Active Parking Control, which Mazda says can detect suitable parking spaces and automatically steer the vehicle into the chosen spot, supporting both parallel and perpendicular manoeuvres in a wide range of situations, whether beside other vehicles, near obstacles or in open areas. 24

The system is standard on the Homura Plus and Takumi Plus grades of both models, and optional on Exclusive-Line, Homura and Takumi variants as part of the Convenience and Sound package. Japanese outlet reporting on the Dutch and Polish announcements notes the feature also appears to be integrated into the control for the 360-degree camera near the shift lever, and observes this is the first time such a parking function has appeared on a Mazda-developed model rather than the Changan joint-venture products. 23

Design, colours and equipment changes

For 2027, the Homura and Homura Plus grades of both models gain dark exterior elements, including dark chrome Mazda badges front and rear, black wheel centre caps and dark lettering within the signature fender script. The CX-80 additionally swaps its silver roof rails for black ones. 245

Polish magazine Auto Świat describes the exterior changes as minor details that only enthusiasts will spot, arguing the substance lies in the improved insulation, driver assistance and suspension work. 5

Colour-wise, Deep Crystal Blue is discontinued across both models: Aero Grey joins the CX-60 palette while Polymetal Grey is added to the CX-80. Inside, the CX-80 gains a Tan interior option for seven-seat Homura and Homura Plus variants, which previously offered the Tan cabin only in the six-seat layout with a centre console; that six-seat Homura Plus option continues. Convenience equipment also improves, with power tailgates now standard on the CX-60's Exclusive-Line, Homura and Takumi grades. 245

A third suspension pass for the CX-60

The 2027 bushing revision marks the third suspension update for the CX-60 in as many years and the first for the CX-80, according to CarExpert. Late in 2023 Mazda began fitting revised rear shock absorbers at the factory, offering Australian buyers these as a free retrofit the following year, and in May 2025 a further revision brought softer rear springs, increased rear rebound damping and firmer front compression damping. 1

The wider context is that Mazda's president confirmed in August that the company is working on updates for the CX-60 and CX-80 and their fellow Large Architecture SUVs, the CX-70 and CX-90, amid sales that have fallen short of projections. "We will be working on the exterior, interior, and powertrain, and will be upgrading them on a scale never seen before," said Mazda President Masahiro Moro in translated remarks reported by Japanese outlet Chugoku Shimbun and cited by CarExpert, adding that it would take time to make them products people would call Mazda's flagship. No equivalent updates have yet been detailed for the US-focused CX-70 and CX-90, and CarExpert notes Australia is the only market to receive all four Large Architecture SUVs. 1

Pricing and availability in Europe

Mazda's Polish release lists 2027 model year pricing starting at 226,700 zł for the CX-60 with the 200 hp (approximately 147 kW) 3.3 e-Skyactiv D diesel in Prime-Line specification, and 243,700 zł for the 327 hp PHEV in the same grade. The CX-80 starts at 279,700 zł for the 327 hp PHEV in Exclusive-Line trim and 282,700 zł for the 258 hp 3.3 e-Skyactiv D diesel, also in Exclusive-Line specification. Polish dealers are already taking orders. 245

On timing, Mazda says the first 2027 CX-60 examples reach European showrooms in December 2026, with the 2027 CX-80 arriving toward the end of the first quarter of 2027. Auto Świat's report matches these dates. There is no confirmed Australian launch date for these updates; CarExpert reports Mazda Australia has not confirmed them for the local market. 2451
