Changan confirms Nevo brand for Europe from 2027, with Australia under consideration

Changan used the Paris motor show to confirm its Nevo brand will launch in Spain in early 2027 with the Q05 electric SUV, joined later by the larger Q06 SUV and A06 sedan – and the brand is reportedly being considered for a factory-backed Australian launch alongside Avatr.

Paris debut sets out Nevo's European plan

Chinese automotive giant Changan has confirmed its Nevo brand will expand into Europe, with sales to begin in Spain in early 2027 and other European markets to follow. The announcement came at the Paris motor show, where Changan detailed new models across its brands, according to CarExpert's reporting from the event. Three all-new Nevo models were shown: the A06 sedan and the Q05 and Q06 SUVs, with the Q05 electric compact SUV the first to go on sale in the region. 1

The move sits within a broader push by Chinese brands into Europe. Il Sole 24 Ore reported from the Paris show, running from 12 to 18 October, that 24 Chinese brands were exhibiting alongside 28 European brands, with Chinese-brand sales in Europe up 100 per cent in 2025 on 2024 and a further 50 per cent in the first half of 2026. The Italian financial daily noted Changan brought all three of its brands – Deepal, Nevo and Avatr – to Paris, with Deepal bringing models to Europe including Italy. 4

The first model: Nevo Q05 compact electric SUV

According to CarExpert, the Nevo Q05 measures 4435mm long and 1855mm wide, making it slightly larger than a Hyundai Kona, and Changan claims it has been China's top-selling compact SUV for the past six months. In right-hand-drive export markets such as Thailand, the Q05 uses a 120kW/190Nm front-mounted electric motor fed by a 51.9kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, with 462km of range on the less strict NEDC test cycle. 13

CarExpert's earlier reporting on Changan's Australian plans adds further Q05 detail: it is built in both China and Thailand, sits on a 2735mm wheelbase, offers 162kW DC fast charging, and will be sold in the United Kingdom from 2027 where it will be badged E06. Il Sole 24 Ore's Paris show report described the Q05 as a small family SUV with a 2.73-metre wheelbase, front-wheel-drive electric version producing 163 cv, and a choice of two CATL-supplied LFP batteries of 40 or 52kWh, with CLTC range quoted between 405 and 506km. The differing battery and range figures between outlets reflect different markets and test cycles and cannot be directly compared. 34

Larger SDA-platform models: A06 sedan and Q06 SUV

Alongside the Q05, Changan showed the larger Q06 SUV and A06 sedan in Paris, signalling plans to bring mid-size models to Europe, CarExpert reports. Both can be had with battery-electric or range-extended hybrid (EREV) powertrains, with the Q06 additionally offering dual-motor all-wheel drive in China. Changan quotes CLTC range of up to 620km for the A06 electric sedan in 62kWh form, and up to 700km for the Q06 with its available 80kWh battery; both use LFP batteries. 1

CarExpert notes the A06 and Q06 are built on Changan's SDA electrified architecture, the same platform underpinning the Deepal E07 crossover-utility already sold in Australia – a vehicle marketed under the Nevo sub-brand in China. In Australia, the E07 Multitruck arrived as Deepal's second model late in 2025, per CarExpert. 13

European manufacturing ambitions

During Changan's Paris press conference, Ethan Yin, executive deputy general manager of Changan Europe, said the company has ambitions to open a European manufacturing facility capable of producing 180,000 units by the end of 2028 and 350,000 units by 2030, according to CarExpert. "We are in active discussions with our partners, and expect to announce the details before the end of this year," Mr Yin said during his presentation. Any site, partner or timeline beyond those stated figures remains unannounced. 1

Australia: factory-backed distribution, alongside Avatr

As for Australia, CarExpert understands Nevo is under consideration for a local launch following the imminent establishment of the premium Avatr brand here. Unlike Deepal, which is distributed by independent importer Inchcape, Avatr and Nevo would be distributed locally by factory-backed Changan operations. CarExpert is awaiting a more detailed official statement from Changan on its local plans beyond Avatr, and no confirmed Australian timing, model range or pricing has been announced. 1

CarExpert's August reporting on Changan's Australian entry provides context for how a Nevo launch would fit. Inchcape Australia confirmed at the time there were no plans for Changan to take over Deepal distribution in Australia, with a spokesperson stating Inchcape remains focused on growing Deepal's local presence. Changan was advertising locally for staff to support the Avatr/Changan sales and service network and a senior marketing role for a new premium brand, which CarExpert reported was almost certainly referring to Avatr. Avatr has promised pre-orders for its 07L electric SUV before the end of this year, with first deliveries in 2027 and pricing and specifications expected in late November or December. 31

Deepal's slow Australian start shows the challenge ahead

Any new Changan-group brand would be entering a market where its sibling brand has found sales difficult. CarExpert reports Deepal recorded just 481 deliveries in Australia in 2025, close to Leapmotor's 644 but well behind Geely's 5010 among Chinese brands launched around the same time. Year to date in 2026, Deepal sits at 816 deliveries alongside the E07 Multitruck launched late in 2025, still close to Leapmotor (910) and far behind Geely's 14,655 vehicles. 3

Deepal's local range is nonetheless set to grow. CarExpert reports the mid-size S05 electric SUV appeared in Australian government certification documents, with Deepal Australia confirming on-sale timing in the first half of 2026 after an earlier plan for a second-half 2025 launch slipped. Certification lists 200kW single-motor and 320kW dual-motor versions, both with a 68.82kWh LFP battery; the rear-drive variant is rated at 485km of WLTP range, the all-wheel-drive version 445km. Local pricing remains unconfirmed, with the larger S07 priced at $49,990 before on-road costs at the time of that reporting. 5

The brand's broader scale helps explain Changan's international push. Brandmine's Deepal profile records more than 700,000 cumulative deliveries across roughly 100 countries, and notes Deepal opened China's first state-owned overseas EV factory at Rayong, Thailand in May 2025, with initial capacity of 100,000 units planned to grow to 200,000 by 2027 – right-hand-drive production capability the profile links to potential supply for markets including Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. 2
