Exclusive partnership announced

Honda Australia has appointed Ohme as its exclusive home electric vehicle charging partner ahead of the arrival of its new all-electric Super-ONE city car, AutoTalk Australia reports. Under the agreement, Honda will recommend Ohme home chargers to customers, with charging units available for viewing at selected Honda Centres across the country. 1

Ohme will provide what AutoTalk Australia describes as a complete home charging service, covering charger supply, installation, dealer training and ongoing support. The arrangement extends beyond the customer-facing hardware to include training for Honda's retail network as the brand prepares to sell its first electric city car locally. 1

What Honda says

Honda Australia director of automotive Robert Thorp told AutoTalk Australia the partnership is designed to make the transition to electric vehicle ownership easier for customers. "Ownership experience has been a central pillar for Honda Australia over the course of our almost 60 years in the market," Thorp said. "With the release of the Honda Super-ONE, we are focused on maintaining our leading ownership experience by helping customers transition to owning a BEV." 1

"In working with Ohme, we are confident customers are taken on the journey with a reliable partner that provides ultimate charging peace of mind," Thorp added, according to AutoTalk Australia. Ohme Australia head of mobility Matthew Evans welcomed the deal, describing the Super-ONE as "a fun, exciting car that carries all the heritage of Honda's 'joy of driving' philosophy into the electric era" and committing to supporting Honda's retailers "in every possible way". 1

The Super-ONE and charging costs

The partnership coincides with the introduction of the Super-ONE, which AutoTalk Australia reports features a 29.6kWh battery and a WLTP driving range of 202km. The city car marks Honda Australia's entry into the electric passenger vehicle market, and the charging package has been structured around its arrival. 1

Ohme's smart charging technology allows drivers to schedule charging when electricity prices are lowest, including during off-peak periods. According to AutoTalk Australia, Ohme says a full charge of the Super-ONE could cost as little as A$2.37 when using an eligible off-peak electricity tariff, such as AGL's Night Saver plan. This is a company estimate tied to specific tariff eligibility, not a figure verified by Honda or an independent test. 1

The chargers also support solar integration and can optimise charging to coincide with periods of higher renewable electricity generation, AutoTalk Australia reports. That capability is aimed at households with rooftop solar seeking to charge from their own generation rather than drawing from the grid. 1

Ohme's expanding Australian and international footprint

Ohme describes itself as the largest home EV charging company in the UK and Ireland and the fastest-growing EV charging company in Europe, according to AutoTalk Australia. The company is already the official home charging partner for fleet management provider SG Fleet in Australia and the UK, and says it has established partnerships with 200 automotive dealers across Australia as it expands its local operations. 1

The Honda agreement follows a similar exclusive arrangement in the UK market, where John Banks Group reported in July 2025 that Suzuki had chosen Ohme as its new and exclusive home EV charging partner. The pattern suggests Ohme has been building a portfolio of manufacturer partnerships on both sides of the world, with Honda Australia now adding a Japanese-brand appointment in the Australian market. 31

Broader Honda charging context

The Australian retail partnership sits alongside Honda's wider global charging activities. In Japan, Honda announced in October 2026 that Honda R&D, together with Taisei Corporation and Taisei Rotec, has developed underlying technology for a magnetic coupling wireless power transfer road system enabling in-motion wireless charging of EVs, with demonstration testing planned on public roads from the Japanese 2027 fiscal year onward, according to Honda's own announcement. 2

Honda also operates Honda Charge, an EV charging network service in Japan, and has been developing dynamic wireless power transfer technology since 2021, per the company's October 2026 release. While the wireless road-charging research is at a pre-commercial demonstration stage and is separate from the Australian home charging deal, both initiatives reflect Honda's stated focus on improving the convenience of EV use through charging infrastructure. 2
