Chery opens Stockman reservations with $2000 Bunnings card and pre-launch servicing offer

Reservations open ahead of official launch

Chery Australia has opened the official reservation program for its Stockman diesel-hybrid ute, allowing Australian customers to secure a place in line ahead of the vehicle's official sales launch. In a media release issued on 1 October 2026, the company said reservations are open online from that date and that deliveries are due to commence from 1 February 2027. The release was distributed via PR Newswire and published by AAP News, with the same Chery media release also appearing on GoAuto's site in its own report on the opening of order books. ¹²

Chery Australia chief operating officer Lucas Harris described the opening of reservations as an important milestone for the brand. "Opening reservations for the Stockman marks an important milestone for Chery in Australia," he said in the company's release. The Stockman marks Chery's entry into Australia's competitive dual-cab ute segment and, according to the manufacturer, broadens its local line-up. Chery says further information, including pricing, specifications and official sales launch timing, will be announced closer to the vehicle's arrival in Australian showrooms. ¹²

What the pre-launch offer includes

Customers who place a Stockman reservation online between 1 October 2026 and the commencement of official sales qualify for a pre-launch incentive package. According to Chery's release, the package includes a $2000 Bunnings gift card, three years or 45,000km of complimentary scheduled servicing, and priority reservation of the Stockman in Matte Silver. ¹

Chery describes the Bunnings arrangement as an exclusive partnership between the two brands, pitched as a fit given the Stockman's positioning as a versatile dual-cab ute for work, weekends and everyday adventures. GoAuto, in its report on the reservation opening, likewise lists the $2000 gift card and three years or 45,000km of free scheduled servicing as the qualifying pre-launch incentives. ¹²

Delivery timing and launch sequencing

Chery's announcement sets first deliveries from 1 February 2027, with GoAuto's report describing that date as confirmed for first deliveries. Both accounts separate the reservation period, which runs from 1 October 2026 until official sales commence, from the formal on-sale date, which has not yet been announced. Pricing, full local specifications and the official launch date are all still to come, with Chery saying more detail will arrive closer to the Stockman's showroom arrival. ¹²

Powertrain and capability claims

GoAuto's coverage of the reservation opening adds technical detail that does not appear in Chery's release. The publication reports that the Stockman, previously referred to internally by its KP31 codename, uses a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel plug-in hybrid powertrain producing a claimed combined 350kW and 800Nm. Battery capacity has not been confirmed, though GoAuto notes Chery claims up to 100km of electric-only range on the more generous NEDC cycle, alongside a 3500kg braked towing capacity. ²

These figures remain manufacturer claims as reported by GoAuto, and Chery's own release did not repeat them. Battery capacity and the electric range figure have not been independently verified, and readers should treat the outputs and range as claimed rather than tested. ²¹

Size and equipment reported so far

GoAuto reports the Stockman as a genuinely large ute even by the segment's growing standards, at 5450mm long, 2010mm wide and 1890mm tall. According to the same report, off-road hardware will include three differential locks, all-terrain tyres, crawl control and a tight-turn assist function. ²

GoAuto also lists previously confirmed equipment including a head-up display, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging and a premium audio system. Chery's release did not confirm any of these specifications, instead directing that pricing and specification detail will be announced closer to launch, so the full Australian line-up and equipment grades remain unknown. ²¹
