Savic Motorcycles opens sale process as later funding report points to $15 million ask

Savic opens to acquirers, investors and partners

Melbourne electric motorcycle manufacturer Savic Motorcycles has opened a strategic transaction process, inviting potential acquirers, investors and industrial partners to approach the business. The company says it is considering an acquisition, strategic investment or industrial partnership, and is looking for parties that can bring manufacturing capability, supply-chain leverage, technology, distribution or international market access alongside capital. Savic says a prospective partner could help scale the technology, multi-model product platform, brand and commercial capability it has built. No buyer or partner has been named, and the company has not disclosed a valuation, a target transaction size, a timetable, sales volumes or revenue, according to AutoTalk Australia and MCNews. ⁴⁶⁷

The transaction page named by Yahoo Finance lists five leadership figures: chief executive Marc Alexander, chief growth officer Victoria Brown, head of product Anton Simanikhin, head of customer experience Steve Jones and financial controller Dylan Richards. The company's pitch, in Savic's own words, is that its combination of technology, product, team and customers can materially compress the time, cost and execution risk of building an electric two-wheeler business from scratch. Savic sells directly to customers rather than through motorcycle dealers, handling test rides, configuration, sales and aftersales itself, according to AutoTalk Australia, which also reports a servicing and technician-training pilot with Kangan Institute. ³⁶

From a $2 million raise to a sale process

The process comes nine months after Savic closed a $2 million funding round in December 2025 and installed Marc Alexander as chief executive, with founder Dennis Savic moving to the board. At that time, the raise was presented as capital for international expansion, including Europe, and increased production capacity. MCNews reported in September 2026 that Dennis Savic is now no longer directly involved in the company that bears his name, a different position from the strategic board role reported at the time of Alexander's appointment; MCNews did not establish whether he still held a board seat. Before founding the company in 2016, Dennis Savic worked as an engineer at Ford Australia on the Everest program. ⁴⁶⁷

Chief executive Marc Alexander framed the milestone in quotes carried by both AutoTalk Australia and MCNews: "The first decade was about proving that an Australian company could develop, engineer and commercially deliver a high-performance EV motorcycle. We have done that. The opportunity now is scaling the technology, multi-model product platform, brand and commercial capability that we have built." Savic was founded in 2016, and the company says customer deliveries of the C-Series began in 2025, nine years from founding to first handover. ⁶⁷

What the C-Series has delivered

Savic says the C-Series has completed Australian Design Rules compliance and durability testing at Phillip Island and Lang Lang, with Bosch Australia involved in integrating the anti-lock braking system, according to AutoTalk Australia and MCNews. The motorcycle has also won two Australian Good Design Awards and the Victorian Premier's Design Award, AutoTalk Australia reports. The company's West Melbourne facility supports engineering, production, customer deliveries and test rides, and the business was built around a company-owned subassembly operation in Taizhou, China, covering SM1 powertrain parts and access to international EV component supply chains, which September 2026 reports from AutoTalk Australia and MCNews describe as established. ⁴⁶⁷

The start of customer deliveries is not settled across the reports. Savic, MCNews and AutoTalk Australia all date the first C-Series handovers to 2025, but Torquecafe's September 2026 account instead says the company started rolling out motorcycles to Australian customers in 2026. Neither account explains the difference between the two dates, so the delivery start date remains an unresolved conflict in the reporting. ⁴⁶⁷

The specification picture is also not fully settled. Torquecafe reported in September 2026 that the C-Series electric motor produces up to 80 kW and 250 Nm, with a 16.2 kWh lithium-ion NMC battery and Type 2 AC charging at up to 3.3 kW, and listed the range from $29,990 before on-road costs. That publication identified the 220 km combined range figure as Savic's claim rather than the result of its own testing. Yahoo Finance, drawing on Savic's own FAQ, describes the output as roughly 80 kW and 220 Nm while noting the company's own timeline lists 60-plus kW peak for the production-representative model, figures Yahoo observes do not match on Savic's website. A 2026 model-year test article republished by Savic, originally from News.com.au in January 2025, describes the 16.2 kWh battery, permanent magnet motor, carbon belt drive, Brembo brakes and Pirelli tyres. ³⁴⁵

The SM1 platform and technology on offer

Savic says the asset on offer is broader than one motorcycle. The company says it owns technology spanning the SM1 powertrain platform, vehicle controls, embedded and full-stack software, cloud and mobile applications, display and customer interface, and industrial design, and says the architecture can support further motorcycle models, urban mobility and utility applications. MCNews reports that no additional production model or launch timetable has been announced as part of the transaction process. The direct customer relationship is part of the pitch, with chief growth officer Victoria Brown telling AutoTalk Australia it is "incredibly valuable for a company building a new category". ⁴⁶⁷

Yahoo Finance's detailed account of Savic's engineering history explains why the SM1 platform is central: from 2020 the battery enclosure became the main stressed member of the chassis, which Savic says allows a multi-model family around a common core. The same account notes the trade-off, that the enclosure's dimensions, mounting and cooling architecture are effectively locked into the chassis, while Savic says the design is modular inside the enclosure and it intends to move to newer battery technology as viable cells become available. Yahoo Finance also notes the C-Series charges only through AC, with no DC fast charging, a full charge taking under six hours on a 15-amp outlet or Level 2 charger, and Savic's range claim for the top-spec Alpha of over 220 km in city riding and around 140 km at a steady 100 km/h. ³

A later report points to $15 million for five new models

On 28 September 2026 the Australian Financial Review reported that Savic is seeking up to $15 million in fresh capital at a valuation of $30 million, with the aim of gaining a foothold in the global market with five new models, in a report surfaced by Ground News and summarised by evshift.com. Ground News and evshift describe Savic as seeking new investors hoping to become a dominant global force in the emerging electric two-wheeler market despite sluggish Australian demand for the technology relative to passenger cars. This funding-focused report sits alongside, rather than resolving, the strategic transaction process announced earlier in September 2026, for which no valuation, target transaction size or timetable had been disclosed, and which remains open to acquisition, strategic investment or industrial partnership. ¹²⁶⁷
