The biography

The Auckland driver debuted for Team Kiwi Racing in 2007, developed through Stone Brothers and Tekno, and won three championships after joining Triple Eight. His later NASCAR move followed a substantial Supercars career, not a single breakthrough result.

Car control becomes a championship campaign

Van Gisbergen’s arrival at a wet Oran Park in 2007 immediately drew attention to his car control. The progression through Stone Brothers Racing and Tekno turned that early promise into regular front-running results. Joining Triple Eight in 2016 brought the first championship in his first season with the team.

Further titles followed in 2021 and 2022. His first Bathurst victory came in 2020 with Garth Tander, and they won again in 2022. A third Great Race success in 2023 completed his full-time Supercars chapter with another major endurance result.

The value of a broad racing education

The Supercars years were accompanied by racing in other disciplines, including GT cars and rallying. His victory on his NASCAR debut at Chicago in 2023 made that versatility visible to a much wider audience and helped open the next stage of his career.

Within Supercars, his legacy combines championship performance, endurance success and the ability to make different machinery work. It spans Ford Falcons, Holden Commodores and the Chevrolet Camaro. This profile keeps that touring-car record distinct from his international results, while recognising that the willingness to explore other forms of racing is an important part of the story.
