First shipments land as deliveries near

The first shipments of the all-new GWM Haval H7 have arrived in Australia, with customer deliveries expected within the next two weeks, as reported by 4X4 Australia. The stock arrival comes ahead of the model's full retail launch, putting vehicles in the country as GWM moves to convert early buyer interest into confirmed orders. 1

GWM has recorded more than 1,500 expressions of interest for the new SUV since its Australian debut at Everything Electric in Sydney just over three weeks ago. According to reporting carried by Cenyavto, the company's local division says the pace of response has surpassed all of the brand's previous Australian debuts, and that traffic to the H7 web page has grown fourfold compared with the previous generation of the model. 12

"We have high expectations for the all-new HAVAL H7, and the level of early interest shown from prospective buyers across Australia demonstrates that GWM looks to have the formula just right with this new model," said Steve Maciver, GWM Australia Head of Marketing and Communications, in comments published by 4X4 Australia. 1

Four grades with hybrid and plug-in hybrid power

The H7 will be offered in four grades, with Lux and Vanta variants each available as either a hybrid or a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), according to 4X4 Australia. GWM's Hi4 all-wheel-drive system is standard across the range, a configuration the outlet notes distinguishes the new generation from the H7 currently on sale in Australia, which Cenyavto reports launches with Hi4, a rear differential lock and eight drive modes from the outset. 12

GWM claims the hybrid produces 182kW, while the PHEV delivers 320kW and 670Nm. The company says the PHEV can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds, travel up to 137km on electric power alone and deliver a combined range of up to 844km under WLTC testing. The PHEV also offers 6kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, and both outlets cite a 1500kg braked towing capacity. 12

Off-road equipment includes a rear differential lock, 4x4 Expert Mode and eight drive modes, as detailed by 4X4 Australia, along with a full-size spare wheel. Despite that hardware, the publication notes the H7 uses a monocoque platform and Hi4 all-wheel drive rather than the body-on-frame chassis and low-range four-wheel-drive hardware of GWM's more hardcore Tank 300 and Tank 500, positioning it more as an adventure-focused family SUV than a traditional 4WD. 1

Cabin technology and equipment

Inside, 4X4 Australia reports the H7 carries a 15.6-inch touchscreen running GWM's Coffee OS software, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a 360-degree camera with transparent-view functionality. Cenyavto's account of the launch matches that headline equipment, describing the cabin as geared toward a modern digital format. 12

GWM has positioned the new H7 alongside the established Haval H6 in its Australian lineup, but with a clearly separated character. According to Cenyavto, the H6 retains smoother lines and a conventional road-focused image, while the H7 takes a boxier, more overtly rugged exterior aimed at buyers who want an expressed off-road styling as well as modern design. 2

Pricing still to be fully detailed

GWM has confirmed that H7 pricing will start below $50,000 driveaway, according to 4X4 Australia, but full pricing details are yet to be announced. Cenyavto likewise reports that final price lists and the detailed equipment composition of the grades remain under wraps, meaning buyers will need to wait for the complete picture before deliveries begin. 12

For context on the outgoing car, CarExpert lists the current 2026 Haval H7 in Australia as a five-seat mid-sized SUV led by a Hybrid Vanta variant priced from $46,990 drive-away, producing 179kW, with claimed dimensions of 4705mm long, 1908mm wide and 1780mm tall on a 2810mm wheelbase. Those figures relate to the current-generation model, and CarExpert has also reported that the new, boxier H7 rollout begins with five-seat all-wheel-drive hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, with a longer seven-seat version to follow in 2027. 3

Strong demand for the H7 abroad

The high Australian interest follows strong response to the Haval H7 in other markets. CarGuide.ph reports that after its official Philippine launch on June 15, 2026, GWM Philippines accelerated vehicle allocation to dealerships nationwide to meet demand, with three variants offered there: the H7 HEV 2WD at P1,298,888, the H7 PHEV 2WD at P1,548,888 and the H7 Hi4 PHEV 4WD at P1,698,888. 4

In Brazil, Autoesporte reports GWM opened pre-sale of the H7 to existing customers from October 5 to 7, 2026, with a R$9,000 deposit, ahead of the model's October 7 launch, and that the outlet established the price would sit below R$300,000. Autoesporte's own prior test drive in China covered a 1.5-litre turbo PHEV with combined output of 364cv, a 5.8-second 0-100km/h claim and 91km or 135km electric range on the Chinese NEDC cycle depending on battery size. Specification differences between markets mean those figures should not be read across to the Australian variants, whose claimed outputs and ranges GWM has stated separately. 5
