What the Goodwood drives showed
The clearest review signal comes from Man of Many, whose Ben McKimm drove a prototype at the Goodwood Motor Circuit and surrounding aerodrome. On the slalom and circuit, he found the four-wheel steering precise and the vehicle's 2,770 kg (unladen EU) mass mostly disappeared behind the wheel during rapid directional changes, a result he credits to the low-mounted battery, double-wishbone front suspension and 48-volt active roll control. He notes the test environment was a staged course and that more real-world testing is needed before commenting further on range. 1
The Independent's own Goodwood drive reached a broadly similar conclusion. Its prototype turned promptly and kept its body more level than familiar petrol and diesel versions, with four-wheel steering helping in tight manoeuvres; acceleration was described as strong but deliberately smooth rather than a single shove. Range Rover vehicle engineering director Matt Becker told The Independent it feels smaller, more planted and more responsive than you would imagine, all without sacrificing refinement, comfort or breadth of capability. 2
A hint of torque steer under hard acceleration is recorded separately by TechTimes, which relays the impression of a journalist who sampled the Goodwood prototype, alongside a description of smooth, brisk performance and potentially superior ride quality to the combustion Sport. 5
Man of Many's off-road sections at Goodwood included gravel, the stepped Dragon Steps incline and a drive through the fuselage of a parked aircraft. The outlet reports the single-pedal drive was well calibrated, bringing the SUV to a complete stop without the friction brakes, and that low-speed steering precision was showcased in the aircraft manoeuvre. The Independent's driver was separately guided through the same aircraft challenge and describes careful, steady progress on gravel and steps. 12
Verified powertrain and charging specifications
Man of Many lists a dual-motor powertrain producing 404 kW (550 PS) and 850 Nm through a single-speed automatic transmission with virtual all-wheel drive, fed by an 118.5 kWh usable NMC battery on an 800-volt architecture integrated into the MLA-Flex floor structure. The outlet reports this layout increases torsional rigidity by 61 per cent and lowers the centre of gravity by 73 mm compared with plug-in hybrid siblings. The Independent reports similar headline hardware, around 542 bhp combined, and quotes Range Rover saying torque builds 50 per cent faster than in the full-size Range Rover Electric. 12
Charging figures per Man of Many: at 350 kW peak DC, 220 km of range is added in 10 minutes or a 10–80 per cent charge takes 22 minutes; at 400 V DC (250 kW peak), 158 km is added in 10 minutes; the 22 kW three-phase AC onboard charger adds 96 km per hour (EU basis). The Independent quotes Range Rover saying the Sport can go 10 to 80 per cent in around 22 minutes or add up to 136 miles in ten minutes, with split-charging technology and the ThermAssist heat-management system supporting operation in varied temperatures. 12
Range needs careful handling: Man of Many reports an official NEDC combined range of 600 km with a manufacturer-quoted real-world estimate of 535 km, figures explicitly framed as manufacturer estimates rather than Australian test results. The Independent reports a maximum claimed range of 374 miles for the Sport, plus a separate manufacturer figure of up to 333 miles from testing over a standardised route, and stresses that weather, speed, load and driving style all affect results. 12
TechTimes notes in its July 2026 preview coverage that the 350 kW charging headline depends on infrastructure, since ultra-rapid chargers of that rating remain a minority of public charging points in the UK, EU and US as of mid-2026. It adds that the 800-volt system splits the pack into two 400-volt banks charging in parallel, so the car remains usable at conventional fast chargers but without the speed advantage. TechTimes also cautions that none of the shared-spec estimates for the Sport Electric had been officially confirmed by JLR at that stage. 5
Dimensions
Man of Many reports the Range Rover Sport Electric at 4,946 mm overall length, 2,047 mm width (mirrors folded), 1,820 mm overall height and a 2,997 mm wheelbase, sourced from Range Rover comparison data, with a stated drag coefficient of 0.29 Cd. The same outlet reports cabin proportions including 985 mm front headroom (with sunroof), 1,545 mm front shoulder room and 1,024 mm front legroom, and second-row headroom of 990 mm, shoulder room of 1,500 mm and legroom of 961 mm. 1
Practicality and cargo
Man of Many reports luggage capacity of 789 litres with the second row in place and a 970 mm loadspace length, expanding to 1,814 litres with the rear seats folded across a 1,400 mm wide floor and 1,827 mm load length. The loadspace door aperture measures 793 mm high and up to 1,121 mm wide at its lower edge. The outlet's driver, 6 ft tall, reports no trouble fitting in the front or rear seats. 1
The Independent describes an interior that remains recognisably Range Rover Sport, with a central touchscreen doing most of the work and relatively few physical buttons, plus bespoke sound profiles layered for the Sport's character. Man of Many details a 13.1-inch curved glass touchscreen and 13.7-inch digital driver display with wireless Apple CarPlay. Off-road credentials are unchanged on paper: both outlets quote a 900 mm wading depth, with Man of Many highlighting that buyers are paying for that all-terrain engineering as much as the badge. 12
Regenerative braking is engaged without steering-wheel paddles on either account. The Independent reports one-pedal driving is selected via the gear lever's S setting rather than a B position; Man of Many reports two available settings, light and standard, executed well but notes there is no adaptive regeneration mode from the outset. 12
Price, grades and availability
In Australia, Man of Many reports prices starting from $226,518 before on-road costs for the entry Dynamic HSE grade, rising to $249,518 for the top-tier Autobiography, with order books open now and first local customer deliveries expected to commence in March. These are manufacturer list prices excluding on-road costs; Man of Many also frames the entry point as a significant outlay against a wider Sport range it reports starting from $146,799 before on-road costs. 1
UK pricing per The Independent: Dynamic SE from £109,810, Autobiography £122,780 and a First Edition £126,290, all carrying the EV550 badge and joining rather than replacing the plug-in hybrid, petrol and diesel Sport models. The outlet calculates the Dynamic SE at £19,750 more than the equivalent plug-in hybrid and the entry electric Sport £44,260 below the full-size Range Rover Electric, while noting the cheapest full-size electric model is an Autobiography, making a like-for-like gap of £31,290. First customer deliveries of both electric Range Rovers are expected in 2027. 2
JLR's own Goodwood media release of 16 July 2026 confirmed only the forthcoming arrival of Range Rover Sport Electric, its second EV, and stated that full details would be announced later in the year. Managing Director Martin Limpert described the Goodwood preview in the release as only a glimpse of how the model will redefine performance SUVs. TechTimes reports that Autocar India, citing sources, expected the Sport Electric to go on sale globally in September 2026, a date JLR's release did not confirm, and that first customer deliveries could follow in early 2027 depending on production ramp-up. Man of Many's September reporting, with local orders open and pricing listed, is the more recent position for Australia. 451
Man of Many frames the competition set as performance electric rivals including the Porsche Macan Turbo Electric (from $187,600 before on-roads per the outlet) and the BMW iX5 60 xDrive (priced TBA), while arguing the Sport Electric is not primarily competing on straight-line performance. TechTimes reports the vehicle will compete primarily against the Porsche Cayenne Electric and the upcoming BMW iX5 in the large luxury electric SUV segment, with precise comparisons difficult until JLR releases official figures. 15
What the evidence supports and its limits
The review corpus supports a confident assessment of verified Australian pricing, equipment grades and manufacturer specifications, alongside two independent prototype drives that consistently report assured dynamics, strong cabin isolation and capable off-road behaviour. Neither outlet drove a right-hand-drive Australian delivery car, and the Australian specification sheet cited is the Dynamic HSE grade; findings from overseas Goodwood prototypes should be read as early prototype impressions rather than road-test results of local cars. 12
Some decision-relevant unknowns remain explicitly unstated. TechTimes reports JLR has not confirmed the Sport Electric's towing capacity; on the full-size Range Rover Electric, the battery pack's envelope reduces maximum towing to 2.5 tonnes from 3.5 tonnes for combustion and plug-in hybrid variants, but whether the shorter-body Sport carries the same figure has not been stated. Battery coverage is documented by The Independent at eight years or 100,000 miles for the Sport's battery, while Man of Many reports an eight-year/160,000 km propulsion warranty for the related full-size Range Rover Electric, a figure specific to that model. 523
Man of Many's verdict holds that the electric transition is not simply an exercise in pleasing emissions regulators, concluding it is an authentic Range Rover first and an electric vehicle second, retaining genuine all-terrain engineering and cabin isolation. DriveAgent has not driven, tested or scored the vehicle; the assessment above reflects the documented drives, verified specifications and attributed pricing and availability reporting. 1
