Suzuki hands over first e Vitara in Australia as launch offers evolve

First customer takes delivery

Suzuki Australia has delivered its first e Vitara to a local customer, marking the arrival of the brand's first battery-electric vehicle in the Australian market. This milestone is reported by AutoTalk Australia alone in this coverage, based on Suzuki Australia's announcement: Nel Mary Davis collected an e Vitara Motion from Pennant Hills Suzuki in early September, becoming the first Australian customer to take delivery of the electric SUV, with Suzuki Australia automotive general manager Michael Pachota personally presenting the vehicle. ¹

AutoTalk Australia reports that Davis already owns a petrol-powered Vitara, and quotes Pachota saying the handover "officially marks the beginning of Suzuki's electrification journey in Australia", citing ease of operation and reliability as her reasons for staying with the brand. Pachota added that this was "the first of many" e Vitaras being delivered across the country as stock begins to arrive. No second outlet in this coverage independently corroborates the first-delivery milestone itself. ¹

Line-up and powertrains

GoAuto's overview of the range outlines the entry-level e Vitara Motion as a single-motor, front-wheel drive model pairing a 49kWh lithium ion battery with 106kW and 193Nm, a claimed 14.9kWh/100km and 344km of WLTP range. The Ultra 4WD steps up to a 61kWh battery and dual-motor all-wheel drive with 135kW and 307Nm, quoted at 16.6kWh/100km and 395km WLTP. The Beep identifies the underpinnings as Suzuki's dedicated HEARTECT-e EV platform. ⁷⁵

There is a third grade in parts of Australia. GoAuto's July road test reports that while southern states receive only the Motion and the top-tier Ultra 4WD, Suzuki Queensland — the distributor for Queensland and the Northern Rivers region of NSW — offers a Queensland-only Ultra 2WD with the larger 61kWh battery, increased outputs of 128kW and 193Nm, and a range of up to 426km. RACQ's May launch overview likewise listed three variants priced from $49,990 to $58,990 drive-away: the Motion 2WD at 344km, an Ultra 2WD with the 61kWh battery at up to 426km, and a range-topping Ultra AWD at 395km. ²⁶

All e Vitara grades carry a four-star ANCAP rating based on European testing, with seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure prevention, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and a 360-degree camera as standard, according to GoAuto, The Beep and RACQ. GoAuto's March overview also noted the model received a four-star score from Euro NCAP. ⁷⁵⁶²

Pricing and launch offers

Pricing has shifted across the launch period. In May 2026, The Beep reported Suzuki Australia opened pre-orders with an introductory drive-away offer of $46,990 for the Motion and $56,990 for the Ultra for the first 100 pre-orders or until 1 July 2026, whichever came first, with standard pricing of $49,990 and $58,990 drive-away applying from the 101st vehicle. Premium paint adds $745 and two-tone finishes $1,345, limited to the Motion. ⁵

GoAuto's July road test listed drive-away pricing of $49,990 for the Motion 2WD, $54,990 for the Queensland-only Ultra 2WD and $58,990 for the Ultra 4WD, and noted Suzuki Queensland was running a $2000 factory cashback for orders placed between 1 May and 31 July 2026, which took the tested Ultra 2WD down to $52,990 drive-away. ²

The current published offer is deeper. Suzuki Queensland's e Vitara page advertises drive-away prices from $45,990 for the Motion 2WD, $49,990 for the Ultra 2WD and $54,990 for the Ultra 4WD, reflecting savings of $4000 on Motion 2WD and Ultra 4WD models and $5000 on the Ultra 2WD under an extended launch offer available to customers who complete a sales contract between 1 September and 30 November 2026, with delivery before 31 December 2026. The page states Suzuki Auto Co. may amend or withdraw the offer at any time. ⁴

On ownership costs, The Beep reports servicing is capped under Suzuki's five-year, 100,000km Genuine Service Program, with an eight-year, 160,000km warranty on the high-voltage battery. GoAuto likewise notes a five-year/100,000km warranty with capped-price servicing plus the battery warranty, and Suzuki Queensland confirms the eight-year or 160,000km battery coverage. ⁵²⁴

Charging support and capability

Charging hardware spans 7kW single-phase and 11kW three-phase AC charging plus DC rapid charging, with 10 to 80 per cent rechargeable in about 45 minutes, according to GoAuto's overview. GoAuto's July road test adds that DC charging peaks at up to 70kW, below the 100kW maximum rates found elsewhere in the segment. RACQ reports the lithium iron phosphate batteries include an integrated heat pump and battery thermal management as standard. ⁷²⁶

On the ownership side, EV Infrastructure News reports that Suzuki Australia has named Ohme as its exclusive home EV charging partner for the e Vitara launch. Suzuki dealers will recommend Ohme chargers, which will be displayed in dealerships, with Ohme providing the charger, installation, dealer training and ongoing customer support as a single package. The publication quotes Ohme Australia's head of mobility, Matthew Evans, calling it a natural extension of Ohme's work with Suzuki in other global markets, and Pachota saying the partnership will "play an important role in supporting our customers as we enter this new era of electrification". The report notes the announcement did not specify whether Ohme's exclusive status extends to Suzuki's future EV range in Australia. ³

On the road and in context

GoAuto's July road test of the Ultra 2WD describes a softly sprung, comfortable ride with a kerb weight as low as 1700kg for the Motion that keeps the car light on its feet, though body roll emerges when pushed hard. The reviewer recorded around 390km of real-world range with highway driving included, suggesting Suzuki's claimed 15.1kWh/100km figure for the tested variant was ambitious but not far off. Earlier, GoAuto's March overview of a brief 49kWh Motion drive praised the comfort, refinement and quietness, while noting the 244-litre boot is small beside rivals like the BYD ATTO 3 and Kia EV3. ²⁷

On pricing context, GoAuto's July review notes the Ultra 2WD competes with established rivals including the Kia EV3 (from $47,600 plus on-road costs) and Hyundai Kona Electric (from $46,990 drive-away), but sits significantly above similarly specified Chinese alternatives such as the BYD Atto 2 (from $31,990 plus ORCs), Chery E5 (from $37,990 drive-away) and Leapmotor B10 (from $37,888 plus ORCs). These rival figures are as cited by GoAuto and mix list-price and drive-away bases. The reviewer's verdict: the e Vitara captures the simple charm of the Vitara nameplate, but justifying its premium against cheaper competitors is Suzuki's biggest challenge. ²⁷
