What changed for the 2027 model year

Mazda has detailed a 2027 model year update for the CX-30 across its UK and European markets, centring on an expanded grade line-up, two new exterior colours, refinements inside and out, and upgrades to the i-Activsense active safety suite. Reporting by CarExpert notes the upgraded small SUV is rolling out to the UK and Europe before the end of this year, with many of the same changes announced for the Japanese market back in July. Mazda Motors UK says the updated range arrives there later this year, with UK pricing to be announced in the Autumn. 12

Mazda Motors UK sales director Laura Brailey said in the manufacturer's announcement that, with more safety features across all models, a pair of new colours and two new model grades, the CX-30 range is stronger than ever, with grades now differentiated by roof rail, exterior trim, wheel and grille surround colours. 2

The design itself is largely unchanged. Mazda press material for Germany and Spain describes subtle Kodo refinements rather than a redesign, and Motorpasión México reports the 2027 CX-30 keeps the same styling introduced in 2019, compensating instead with new technology and equipment. That publication says Germany is the first market to receive the 2027 model, with launches spreading across Europe in the coming weeks and Mexico expected to follow between September and November. 345

Expanded line-up and new grades in the UK

In the UK the 2027 CX-30 line-up grows from 17 to 21 models, with a new Homura Plus grade joining the existing Prime-Line, Centre-Line, Homura, Exclusive-Line and Takumi grades, according to Mazda's UK announcement. The Homura grade, available with both engines, gains a refreshed sportier exterior with a black grille signature wing, gloss-black beltline mouldings, black roof rails and dark-plated badges. Homura Plus builds on this with additional equipment including 12-speaker BOSE audio, black leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, gunmetal and gloss-black interior decorative panels, front and rear LED signature lighting, a 360-degree view monitor and, for the first time on CX-30, front-seat ventilation. Mazda's announcement does not specify which engines Homura Plus offers. 2

Exclusive-Line models gain silver roof rails, a silver signature wing and silver beltline trim, while the range-topping Takumi receives the same silver accents plus a 360-degree monitor with a see-through view, technology previously reserved for larger Mazda SUVs such as the CX-60, per Mazda UK. German press material adds that the German Makoto special edition carries a €1000 customer advantage over a comparably equipped CX-30. 23

The Makoto special edition arrives in the UK in early 2027 with a light interior, combining light cloth and 'stone' leatherette upholstery, black 18-inch alloy wheels, dark external badging, a black front signature wing and black mirror caps. CarExpert reports this aligns with the Air Edition in Japan, which features the same lighter interior scheme, though Mazda UK says final UK specification of the Makoto is still to be confirmed. 12

German CX-30 pricing starts from €29,990 for the Prime-Line and runs through Centre-Line at €32,440, Homura at €33,140, Exclusive-Line at €35,790, Homura Plus at €37,140 and Takumi at €38,190, with the Makoto from €34,440. These are German list prices and separate from UK pricing, which Mazda says will be announced in the Autumn. In Poland, where Mazda says the model is orderable with first deliveries planned for August 2026, the Prime-Line 2.5 e-Skyactiv G 140 manual starts from 120,400 zloty and the 2.0 e-Skyactiv X 186 manual from 124,400 zloty. 362

New paint colours and interior details

Two new paint colours join the 2027 CX-30 range: Aero Grey metallic and Zinc Green Metallic. CarExpert reports the Zinc Green paint debuted on the MX-5 earlier this year, with Mazda saying it was inspired by the colour and texture of zinc chromate primer, while Mazda UK says the newly developed shade will also appear on the 2027 MX-5. Spanish and Polish Mazda press material states Zinc Green becomes available in production from October 2026. 1246

Interior changes include new gunmetal and gloss-black decorative panels in some variants, per CarExpert. German press material details matte-black centre console, black side window trim and new LED daytime running lights for the Prime-Line, a new centre-console light for the Centre-Line, and Takumi variants gaining black decorative elements plus front-seat ventilation. Mazda UK also lists Driver Monitoring as standard on all UK models for the first time. 123

Safety and driver assistance upgrades

The i-Activsense suite receives the most substantive changes. According to Mazda press material for Germany and Spain, the updated Smart Brake Support system now recognises motorcycles and offers greater support at intersections, and German material adds turn recognition for the emergency braking system and motorcycle detection extended into the blind-spot monitor. CarExpert's account matches this, adding that the CX-30's emergency braking can now avoid collisions in intersections and during right turns, and gains a collision damage mitigation function for oncoming vehicles plus forward-moving approaching object detection. German press material also states the Prime-Line gains Secondary Collision Reduction and the Driver Monitoring attention assistant for the 2027 model year. 341

Adaptive LED headlights are improved to the same level as the CX-60 and CX-80, per Mazda's Japanese announcement relayed by CarExpert, with Spanish and Polish material describing a marker light for pedestrians and reduced glare towards reflective signage. CarExpert reports the adaptive cruise control now features speed-sign recognition, the emergency lane-keep system is improved, and blind-spot monitoring adds a safe exit warning function. German press material also details the new linkage between adaptive cruise control and traffic-sign recognition, which lets the recognised speed limit be adopted at the press of a steering wheel button, plus see-through-view 360-degree cameras for the Exclusive-Line. 1463

Spanish and Polish Mazda press material additionally details updated Mazda Connect with advanced voice recognition, Alexa integration for supported European countries, and remote functions via the MyMazda app. Seat ventilation joins as a comfort feature in selected variants, and both markets retain the Jinba-Ittai driving philosophy backed by a Skyactiv Vehicle Architecture with a tuned chassis. 46

Engines unchanged, and the Australian picture

Powertrains carry over in Europe. UK press material lists a choice of 140ps e-Skyactiv G and 186ps e-Skyactiv X petrol engines, both with Mazda M Hybrid mild-hybrid technology, with the X available with i-Activ all-wheel drive and manual or automatic transmissions on all models except Prime-Line. German material details the e-Skyactiv G as a 103kW/140PS 2.5-litre unit with cylinder deactivation producing 238Nm, and the e-Skyactiv X as a 137kW/186PS compression-ignition SPCCI unit producing 240Nm. 234

These engines differ from Australia's line-up. CarExpert reports that, unlike in Australia, where the CX-30 is offered only with naturally aspirated Skyactiv-G 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engines, the UK gets the mild-hybrid e-Skyactiv G and e-Skyactiv X, plus a manual transmission that is not offered here. It is unclear when the 2027 update will arrive in Australia, with CarExpert saying it has contacted Mazda Australia to confirm local timing. 1

The CX-30 remains an important model for Mazda locally. CarExpert reports the brand has produced more than 1.4 million CX-30s globally since the 2019 launch, and 9020 CX-30s were delivered in Australia to the end of September, making it Mazda's third-best seller behind the CX-5 and CX-3. Looking ahead, CarExpert reports Mazda chief executive Masahiro Moro revealed in an interview with the Hiroshima-based Chugoku Shimbun that a second-generation CX-30 will be launched by March 2031 and will incorporate methods used for the new CX-5. The publication suggests this most likely refers to that model's cost-reduction regime, which saw the new CX-5 feature an arguably more downmarket interior, dropping the rotary dial-controlled Mazda Connect system and physical audio and climate controls in favour of a larger touchscreen. 12
