Ranking result and what changed

Hyundai Motor Company has been ranked 29th in brand consultancy Interbrand's Best Global Brands 2026 report, with its estimated brand value reaching USD 25 billion, a 2% increase on the previous year. The company also climbed two places, from sixth in 2025 to fourth among automotive brands, in what it describes as 17 years of consecutive growth in brand value, according to Hyundai's own newsroom announcement of October 28, 2026. 23

Australian motoring publication AutoTalk reported the same result, noting that Hyundai attributes the rise to its expanding mobility portfolio, electrified vehicle sales and investment in software-defined vehicles, artificial intelligence, robotics and autonomous driving. AutoTalk's report carries the same figures for the ranking, valuation and the move to fourth among car brands. 1

The milestone carries longer history: according to Aju Press, Hyundai has been listed among Interbrand's global 100 brands since first entering in 2005, and its brand value has increased for 17 consecutive years from 2010 to this year — the growth streak Hyundai's own release references. 4

Separate reporting from Aju Press stated that Hyundai had entered the top 20 of the global rankings for the first time, while the same article's text places Hyundai 29th overall — consistent with Hyundai's own release — and characterises the milestone as a first entry into the automotive top four. The apparent top-20 claim conflicts with the confirmed 29th placing and should be read with that discrepancy in mind. 462

How Interbrand measures the ranking

Interbrand evaluates leading global brands each year across three dimensions: financial analysis, which measures the financial performance generated by the brand; role of brand, which measures the portion of the purchase decision attributable to the brand; and brand strength, which assesses a brand's ability to create loyalty and extend brand impact over the medium to long term. Hyundai's release describes the report as one of the most authoritative global brand valuations. 23

Jihun Moon, global managing partner of the Interbrand Group, said in Hyundai's announcement that the company had unveiled its AI robotics strategy this year, extending the brand into physical AI, and that proving tangible competitiveness in robotics and electrification strengthened brand distinctiveness and trust — which he called a key driver of the brand-value growth. AutoTalk carried the same comment in its report. 21

Asia Today's Korean-language report adds an Interbrand view that Hyundai's brand foundations in major markets such as the United States and Europe also acted as a key driver of the value increase, alongside demonstrated competitiveness in robotics and electrification. 5

Product awards and electrified sales behind the result

Hyundai links the ranking improvement to product competitiveness recognised through industry awards. The all-new Palisade was named the 2026 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year in January 2026, while the electrified flagship SUV IONIQ 9 was named the World's Best Large SUV at the 2026 Women's Worldwide Car of the Year Awards. On safety, Hyundai says the 2026 IONIQ 9 earned the 2026 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award — which the company notes applies to US models only — and Euro NCAP's highest safety rating. 23

Sales momentum underpinned the valuation. For full-year 2025, Hyundai sold 961,812 electrified vehicles globally, up 27% year over year, comprising 275,669 EVs and 634,990 hybrids, according to the company's announcement. In the first quarter of 2026, electrified sales rose 14.2% from a year earlier to 242,612 units, with electrified vehicles at 24.9% of total global sales and hybrids at 17.8% — both all-time quarterly highs for the company. 21

Hyundai credits the TUCSON Hybrid as a key contributor to growth in global electrified vehicle sales in 2025 and to its record first-quarter 2026 hybrid performance. The company says it has since unveiled the all-new TUCSON with its next-generation hybrid system. Aju Press adds that Hyundai achieved record sales revenue of 186.25 trillion won last year and surpassed one million annual units sold in the US market, helped by its expanded hybrid line-up. 24

Robotics, software and future growth engines

Hyundai points to progress in physical AI and software-defined vehicles as part of its brand-value case. In January 2026 the group outlined a human-centred AI robotics strategy and a mid- to long-term commercialisation roadmap. In September 2026 it showcased Atlas robot training at the Robotics Metaplant Application Center, in preparation for a planned deployment at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Georgia beginning in 2028. Atlas won the Best Robot award in CNET Group's Best of CES 2026, and the group's MobED platform received a CES 2026 Best of Innovation Award plus a Red Dot product design win in May 2026. 231

On software, the group unveiled its Pleos software brand in early 2025 and this year revealed the production version of Pleos Connect, first applied to The New Grandeur in Korea in May before a phased global rollout. Hyundai says it plans to equip approximately 20 million vehicles with Pleos Connect by 2030. The group's autonomous-driving arm Motional launched an IONIQ 5 robotaxi pilot service in Las Vegas in March 2026, which Hyundai describes as groundwork for Level 4 commercialisation. 21

Hyundai also cites its ongoing strategic partnership with NVIDIA as contributing to the group's broader physical AI-based manufacturing innovation, including the Saemangeum data centre. 2

Sports and cultural marketing contribution

Hyundai's global marketing activity features prominently in its own account of the ranking. As a FIFA partner since 1999 — 27 years by 2026 — the company provided the largest-ever fleet of official vehicles at the FIFA World Cup 2026 and ran its 'Next Starts Now' campaign. It also returned as the International Cricket Council's top-tier Premier Partner in December 2025 and is official sponsor of South America's CONMEBOL Libertadores. 23

At the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June 2026, Hyundai won the Grand Prix in the Audio & Radio category for its 'Coquí Alarmed' campaign, its second consecutive Grand Prix following 'Night Fishing' in 2025. The company says its 'Forests Without Names' ocean-forest conservation campaign also received additional honours in 2026, building on its earlier 'Tree Correspondents' CSR work. 231
