The biography
The Holden Dealer Team driver carried his success from the Torana into the Commodore years. His career totals include three Australian Touring Car Championships and nine Bathurst victories, with achievements on both sides of 1980.
The Commodore becomes a legend
Brock’s connection with Bathurst was already established by the start of the 1980s. Winning with Jim Richards in 1980 completed their third consecutive victory together. Another three-year sequence followed with Larry Perkins, giving the early Commodore era an extraordinary endurance record.
The white and fluorescent-red VK of 1984 captures that period. Brock and Perkins won the first Sandown endurance race held over 500 kilometres before taking another Bathurst victory. It was the final season of Australia’s Group C touring-car rules.
A record that needs its full history
The ninth Bathurst win came in 1987, after the leading Sierras were excluded for technical infringements. That result belongs to a different regulatory era from the big Group C Commodores, which is why the cars and circumstances matter alongside the numbers.
Brock’s earlier wins remain part of his full-career record. The Torana years and the Commodore successes belong to the same story, linking Holden’s 1970s breakthroughs with the rivalry and machinery that followed.
