Zeekr opens Gold Coast dealership in Southport as Australian sales surge

Seventeenth dealership opens in Southport

Zeekr has opened its 17th Australian dealership on the Gold Coast, located in the suburb of Southport, marking the brand's fifth outlet in Queensland since launching locally in late 2024. GoAuto reported the opening, noting it came less than two years after Zeekr announced its first four Australian locations in November 2024: Victoria Park in Perth, Canberra, Doncaster in Melbourne and Parramatta in Sydney. ⁴

The dealership's official site lists the location at 80 High Street, Southport, with a phone contact line and test-drive booking, finance, service and offers facilities, alongside the Zeekr X, 7X and 009 model range. The site also carries new, demo and used stock listings for the dealership. ²

The opening event was attended by VIP guests, media, key opinion leaders, industry partners and Australian Olympic swimmer Michael Klim, described by Zeekr as a friend of the brand. According to Paint & Panel, Klim said he had enjoyed getting to know the brand firsthand and that its commitment to quality, innovation and thoughtful design stood out to him. ³⁴

Zeekr's stated expansion rationale

Zeekr Australia managing director Frank Li said the Gold Coast dealership was a 'critical piece' of the brand's expansion strategy across Australia. 'With record-breaking delivery numbers and growing customer demand, we're establishing a retail presence where our customers are while continuing to invest in building a strong and trusted brand nationally,' he said, according to GoAuto and Paint & Panel, which both carried the statement. ⁴³

Both outlets reported the Southport opening as one of several dealership expansions Zeekr plans throughout 2026, as the brand builds national retail presence and delivery capacity. Paint & Panel characterised the expansion as reinforcing Zeekr's push to deliver a luxury electric mobility experience and position itself as a challenger to established premium marques. ⁴³

Record deliveries behind the opening

The new outlet opened on the back of a record month for Zeekr in Australia. GoAuto reported the brand delivered 1954 vehicles in June 2026, its third consecutive month above 1000 deliveries, with 7829 vehicles sold since launch and 5835 of those recorded this year. Zeekr's 7X mid-size SUV is the brand's best-selling model locally, with 5532 deliveries in 2026 and 6738 since its Australian launch, per GoAuto. ⁴

That momentum continued into July. CarExpert reported Zeekr posted its best-ever sales month with 2115 registrations, its first month above 2000 deliveries, and year-on-year growth of 2837.5 per cent. The 7X led with 1892 registrations, placing 11th in the overall nameplate standings and fewer than 150 units behind the Geely EX5, which finished 10th. Zeekr ranked 17th among roughly 75 brands for the month, ahead of Volkswagen, Nissan, BMW, Honda and Lexus. ⁵

'To move from our first 1000-sales month to more than 2000 sales just three months later demonstrates the growing confidence Australian customers have in the Zeekr brand and the strong response to the MY26 X,' Li said in a statement quoted by CarExpert. The updated Zeekr X recorded 211 July deliveries, up 229.7 per cent year on year, while the 009 people mover found 12 new homes, up 50 per cent on July 2025. ⁵

Retail network count and what comes next

Paint & Panel reported the Southport site as Zeekr's 17th Australian dealership, a figure GoAuto also used. CarExpert's later sales report described the brand as having 18 retail locations across Australia following the recent addition of the Gold Coast outlet, with further network expansion planned for the remainder of the year. The differing counts reflect the timing of each report; CarExpert's August figure is the later position. ³⁴⁵

CarExpert also reported that Zeekr intends to double its Australian model line-up over the coming 12 months, with the 7GT electric wagon and the 8X and 9X extended-range hybrid luxury SUVs among the additions. These are the brand's stated plans as reported, not confirmed Australian launch dates. ⁵

The Gold Coast showroom offering

The Southport dealership stocks Zeekr's Australian line-up of the X small SUV, the 7X mid-size SUV and the 009 people mover, all battery-electric models, according to GoAuto and the dealership's own website. Paint & Panel described the range available to Gold Coast customers as including the award-winning 7X, the 009 MPV and the updated X, which Zeekr said attracted more than 1200 customer orders within six weeks of the updated model's announcement. ⁴²³

Zeekr's Australian news page has previously highlighted recognition for the 7X, including a Drive Car of the Year 'Best Medium SUV Under $60k' award announced in February 2026 and a 2026 CarsGuide 'Best Medium SUV Under $60k' award, along with a five-star ANCAP safety rating for the 7X announced the same month. The brand also launched a referral program in July 2026. ¹²
